Losing hope (venting)

I think forex trading has been a dream of mine for so many years, only in March this year did I really start to dig into it. I've spent months trying so many different strategies, youtube guides, googling guides, even No Nonsense Forex and his (contrarian I guess?) view on it all. So many times I thought I had found the one strategy I can just stick to, only to further test it on historical data and find that just because it performed well one year, didnt stop it from doing poorly every other. I've seen so many indicators, taken so many guesses at price action, and I just dont see any law to it. I just want something to work, even if its 50% win rate with 2:1 rewards, thats still a winner, but everything I see, I can point out so many more cases where it fails than where it succeeds.
In any case, this has been a lengthy self-pitying read, sorry. Im just losing hope that a consistent profitable strategy exists, but thanks for taking the time to read, just venting I guess.

It wont let me post this? is it due to a lack of analysis? GBP will surely rise! Or will it? Thatll do.

Do you think it would have been easier to get into Forex 10 years ago then now?

I know it's a pointless question, but I'm just curious.

Quick question about forex price movements

I don't get it guys but from what I've read about forex they say that if a majority of traders go let's say long they will move the market because of a demand and supply principles....but I think forex traders are just dealing with CFD s relying on a mirrored price imposed by big banks and top tier institutions because we are not buying or selling nothing physically like an individual stock. Forex traders can't influence the price of any currency's pair. These are just my thoughts so don't break me in pieces 😅😅😜😜🍺🍺

I think that my friend is in a forex trading pyramid scheme "Walking ATMS"

My friend asked me if I wanted to join a group of people meeting and recruiting people for what seems like a pyramid scheme. They have videos on youtube (https://youtu.be/x5w02T_3JiI) he doesn't seem to have paid in yet but I'm worried that more people will be affected by this anyone else seen anything similar?

Forex and stock trading automation what do you think?

Hello, the reason I'm opening this discussion is that for a while I've been thinking about building forex/stock trading automation system(something like a bot but in a more sophisticated way). I have a decent python experience with over 1 year of hands-on deep learning and general purpose projects so it is valid to say I'm quite experienced with tensorflow 2.x, keras, numpy, pandas, matplotlib and most of standard python libraries. I'm currently learning c++ for performance needs that cannot be met with python alone. I've been intending to use my background to create a trading system I have not thought of specifics but my general overview of a problem solution might be to create a combination of deep learning models and maybe some reinforcement learning techniques as well(which something I'm currently learning). The question is do you think of a criteria to get best outcomes in terms of prediction accuracy and be able to deliver something that might turn profitable at some point? I have not started working on the project yet but when I read about the topic in kaggle and general machine learning forums, the idea of forex bots/ auto-trading systems is sometimes met with skepticism: some argue it's nearly impossible to create something useful and some others claim that they were successful to create deep learning models (my best guess is RNN/LSTM architectures) with variable accuracy(60-90%). I don't think experimentation will hurt, I mean I can start working something out and figure out the best results for myself but I thought it's a good idea to ask for guidance from those who have similabetter background/experience as/than myself as well as others who might have tried already and hear the feedback first. What do you think?

My journey

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share my short journey on Forex.
I heard about forex through a friend of mine and he would preach about “financial freedom.” Of course, like most of us, I thought it was a get rich quick thing so I hoped on the wagon. I did some demo trading which I made lots of money QUICK. It got my hopes up. I was blindly taking trades, I honestly didn’t even know what Forex was. This led me to make a real account with 100 dollars.
I had some luck in the begging making a dollar here and there. I started watching YouTube videos on indicators and all of these things I didn’t understand. Then I added another 100 dollars and I had around 200. I started testing my luck and gambling away. I got down to 25 dollars. Now 200 dollars is not a lot, but it still hurt. I could only imagine what if I had put 2000 dollars. I started to think forex was pointless and impossible to learn.
I got a new job in an office where I honestly don’t do anything most of the time. I decided to actually learn what forex is, and how the market works. I started learning about management and the psychology behind it. I learned about price action and built my own strategy. Now, like I said, I’m very lucky that at my new job I could take around 4 hours to do this every day. Then I decided I was going to start building my left of 25 dollar account.
It’s a small accomplishment but I’m beyond happy that I’m finally getting the ropes of forex. Today I made back my 200 dollars plus 30. My goal is to build my account to a 1000. It has taken a few weeks and few losses. My journey is just beginning and I’m beyond happy I didn’t give up when I started. To all new traders, Don’t give up, and LEARN LEARN LEARN. To my old traders that put information out there. Thank you!

Thinking of forex trading.

Hello all, I've been forex trading on a practice account on 212 while I've been watching some YouTube videos and reading various little bits of information on forex trading.
I've managed in two days to turn a 54k profit off the practice account and I have 6 trades I'm waiting to turnover, and all the purchases are limited units so they're usually around £300-£1000 gbp and I make a fair profit from these trades. Now my main question is because I can afford to risk roughly that amount, and I've always managed to absorb my losses comfortably with my wins is it worth taking the plunge.
I wanted to know if anyone else had seen this type of success on a practice account in such a small time, and if so did they carry this onto real money and trades.
I have a skeleton strategy I'm refining, and I'm looking at trends and variables at various time frames for the particular currencies I trade. But I'm getting to the point mentally where its like maybe it's worth the risk, and even if I buy at a bad time and it down sloaps, I know the market will eventually bounce back I don't mind riding a trade out till it turnsover.
Any input would be appreciated, and if you're going to be negative that's fine but at least be constructive about it.
Ps. No my strategy isn't from the YouTube video.

Thoughts on trading forex vs trading stocks.

Curious to know what everyones thoughts are on the differences of trading the two instruments. For me I think Forex is more difficult even tho there’s only 12 major pairs compared to thousands of stocks. I find that stocks follow support and resistance levels more than forex, a lot of the time with forex I find it breaking above or below a support/resistance level then completely reversing. I think forex may be more difficult also because you are going against big banks, etc instead of your average trader with stocks.
Curious to know everyone’s opinion on the topic.

Family member thinks he’s gonna become a millionaire through forex trading.

I’ve done a little research; enough to know it’s not necessarily an MLM, but the “learn from millionaires” model that IM uses is definitely a scam. Basically I’m just needing some quick, hard hitting rebuttals for when he inevitably starts asking (begging) other family members to join. I don’t care as much about getting him out of that shit storm as I care about preventing him from sucking other people I care about into it. Thanks.

From 50 to 1000.

I will do my best to explain everything in English, for any error or mistake please excuse me.
So a month back I posted a picture where I went from 50 to 1000 in 2-3 months time.
I got lots of questions how, what and people asking about my strategy. Anyway I won't discuss with you my strategy , why? I don't really have any.
The things I only use is SUPPLY/DEMAND and a bit of Price Action but trust me when I say it's all in the mind.
I've been trading since my 17. Not full time, but had few times off, then went back in, crashed, funded, crashed. After 5 years this was my first decent gain from a small account.

When I say I started with 0.01 lots it means I STARTED but during the journey I sure did increase my leverage.
LET'S START

1.YOUR ACCOUNT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is this important?
See, in forex you can start with any amount you want. I've started with 1000/500/100/50 EU accounts. X is the amount you are willing to lose.
Obviously it's better to have a large fund so you don't get margin called too soon. But if you are a beginner, I recommend to start using small funds like 50-100-200 EU.
With a small fund you will be in a better position emotionally, there is not too much money on the line versus a 1000 account.
YOU ARE GONNA LOSE, several times. A bunch of times. Are you willing to take the risk? I like taking risks, I learn from my mistakes to that's what kept me going.
  1. EMOTIONS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is very important.
Perhaps you have been demo trading for few days/months, seen some nice gains and started real trading and then BAM it went wrong?
If not, good for you but for many of us it goes wrong. Why? Because demo trading and real trading is very different. When your stake is at risk, your emotions change. Thus you forget everything you have done on demo with your emotions.

Losing 100 K on demo trading -> haha fuck that, it's demo anyways. I don't care at all.
Losing 5 euro on real trading -> you will feel like you want to cut your losses and stop trading.
This is how it went for me.
I've tried many strategies, courses, indicators, EA, call it up. But what I didn't try is taking control of my emotions.
Anyway, I tried being patient and started trading without any fucks given. Meaning = don't care about losing or winning your money. I used also small lots, but we will get to it later.
A nice strategy will give you an edge for bigger gains, taking control of emotions will help you handle losses and gains. It will help you not being greedy, it will help you not to watch your trades every fricking 5 seconds.
Seriously, what I want to say is the way you feel and act on demo..take it to real trading because this will help you.
I've had times where I went deep into the red, I just let my emotions handle and patience. That large draw down became some good positive $$$.

  1. LOTS, RISK/REWARD - RISK MANAGEMENT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I won't get too much in the RISK/REWARD system, you can look it up for better explanation.
Emotions and risk/rewards go hand in hand.
If you think Forex is get rich quick scheme, boy you are wrong. It's more like get poor quick scheme.
If you can handle your lot sizes and are happy with little reward or little risks..you will benefit in the long run.
The bigger the lot size, the more you gonna be emotionally dependent on that particular trade.
Controlling your lot size where you are emotionally independent gives you more confident and boost and you will survive during a large draw down.
Emotions and risk management will keep you away from revenge trading.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
!!!!
So don't ask me for SL/TP rations, entry, exit, indicator ..etc because I don't use any.
I take care of my emotions and that's what works for me.
Find something that suits you because what I do won't work for you and vice versa. !!!!

I've taken a break now, I will start again in a week using the same fund.
